Plot Summary

When this book first was released in the 70s was actually promoted as non fiction. It was latter reviled that Beatrice Sparks actually wrote this fictional tale. Go Ask Alice is written as diary entries of a 15 year old girl who unknowingly drinks a can of coke that was spiked with lsd. Her diary becomes her safe place and she documents her downfall into the world of drugs and her attempts at getting clean.

My Two Cents

I think this book was definitely designed as a PSA as to why drugs are bad. I can definitely say if I read this as a pre teen I most definitely would never even look at a drug let alone try one. I also found a blurb today at work that states this book is on some band book lists including some school boards in British Columbia. So definitely add it to your reading list! It’s short and sweet (not really it’s actually kind of dark and depressing) but gets a 4/5 stars from me.
